QUARANTINE SURVIVAL GUIDE

Having trouble finding things to do while in quarantine? Our warriors know all too well what it is like to be stuck at home and are here to help. Here are some of their tips and tricks to surviving a quarantine!

HAVE A DAILY ROUTINE

Due to COVID-19, many people are now in quarantine, as their jobs and school are no longer a place they can go. For those who are struggling to cope with the changes and trying to find a sense of normalcy, creating a routine can ease the stress of these unprecedented times. Setting goals for yourself is key. This can range from making the bed every morning, sticking to a skincare routine, studying, and/or creating a timed schedule with reminders to hold yourself accountable. Of course, there is no shame in lounging around the house in pajamas all day, but having a routine can ensure healthy habits and productivity.

GET UP AND GET DRESSED

When home all day, it is hard to find motivation to get dressed or even get out of bed. However, keeping up your appearance can do wonders for your confidence and self-esteem. There is no shame in putting on a cute outfit and getting dolled up just to stay home. Getting dressed can be a simple step of your day, but you can also have fun with it. Have a fashion show and try on all the clothes in your closet, do a full glam makeup look just to take selfies, or you can even try vlogging and starting a Youtube channel! Feeling cute and confident will boost your mental health and get you excited for the day!

LET’S GET PHYSICAL!

If physically able to, exercise is a great way to be productive and pass time while at home. Finding the motivation to work out can be rare, so just find what works for you! Some simple and gentle exercises are stretching, walking, and yoga. If you are looking to break a sweat and get your energy out, go for a run or dance around the house listening to your favorite music. Also, REMINDER, just because you are quarantined does not mean you can’t go outside. So lay out a mat to exercise outdoors or take a walk in your neighborhood and get some vitamin D.

GET IN TOUCH

Now is the perfect time to reach out to family and friends. Thankfully, we have lots of amazing tools to do that from the comfort of our own home. You are now able to utilize technology more than ever by calling, messaging, and video chatting all day. Use this as an opportunity to grow closer to family and friends and have them as a support system.

MENTAL HEALTH CARE

On a contrary note, it can also be helpful to cleanse from technology and take social media breaks. It is easy to get caught up scrolling through TikTok and Instagram, but don’t forget to take a step back and give your mind a rest. Being on your phone or laptop for long periods of time can cause headaches and insomnia, so put the technology away for a moment if needed and go outside and enjoy the nature around you. Apart from social media, there are other factors that can affect your mental health. Your feelings are valid. It is completely okay and understandable to be anxious and scared right now. Many people are going through relatable emotions, so don’t be afraid to reach out to a friend and talk things out!

TREAT YOURSELF

Along with keeping up your appearance, don’t forget to do small things that make you feel good. Or in other words, TREAT YOURSELF! Take a nice bubble bath, do a face mask, light some candles, and just relax. Don’t forget, treating yourself can also mean eating a pint of ice cream in bed. It is important do what will make you happy and at peace. Self-care and self-love is the best practice to have with yourself, so get started!
