This is my story:

Hey there, I‘m Julia, a type 1 diabetic German living in the UK. I’m a scientist, nutritionist and podcaster.

It all started 5 years ago with classical symptoms such as loosing up to 10 kilos in a few months time, although I was eating quite a lot. Drinking 5 litres of water a day and still feeling thirsty felt normal. I thought all that is just due to stress caused by a violent and abusive marriage I was struggling escaping from. Diagnosis hit me hard and I believed, diabetes was just a terrible nightmare I will eventually wake up from.

Today, I still have diabetes but it is no nightmare for me anymore. Type 1 diabetes (T1D) is nothing I can change completely but I thrive everyday to make the best of it. Working as a nutritionist is more rewarding than ever as I see daily how nutrition massively helps T1D management.

As weird as it might sound, but T1D let me onto a unique journey of self love and happiness. Surely, not every day is great but this is not what counts for me!
